In the Internet era there are not many people carrying cash around, so collecting payments would be an issue for small businesses. Businesses that are located in a remote area and still rely on using a traditional cash register would be benefited from the new innovation from PayPal. By using a small device as a credit card reader that can be attached into a smartphone, small businesses can charge buyers credit cards easily. The new product from PayPal is called “PayPal Here.”
Of course, PayPal Here will charge a fee for the transaction. During the introduction period, the eBay’s payment subsidiary will charge a flat rate of 2.7% for card swipes. But, PayPal warned merchants that they actually paying 1.7% as the Silicon Valley-based company will offer a business debit card with 1% cash back. During the intro period, PayPal Here will only serve four countries including America, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong.
